Crystal was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She currently resides in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania with her husband, who is also a local attorney, their English Springer Spaniels and a cat named Pepper.  Prior to moving to Central Pennsylvania, she lived in Chicago, Illinois; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Lafayette, Indiana; South Mills, North Carolina; Potsdam, New York, and the Metro Detroit area, where her parents still reside.

Crystal roots for Michigan football (GO BLUE!), the Detroit Red Wings, and the New England Patriots in her spare time.
