Overview

Matthew E. Ainsley is an associate in Thomas, Thomas & Hafer’s Washington, D.C. Office, where he handles cases of all shapes, sizes, and complexity. As a member of the firm’s general liability practice group, Matt has defended clients in all phases of trial litigation. His experience spans from representing companies in construction defect cases, to representing parties in toxic tort matters, to representing individuals and businesses in motor vehicle accidents, and businesses in premises liability cases. Matt has also represented insurance companies in their subrogation efforts, and in insurance coverage disputes.

Matt currently serves as Treasurer of the DC Defense Lawyers’ Association and previously served as the organization’s Secretary.

Matt graduated from George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. While there, he was a member of the Moot Court team and served as an Articles Editor for the school’s Journal of Law, Economics & Policy. In law school, Matt served as a law clerk on the Committee on Ways & Means in the U.S. House of Representatives for four consecutive semesters and worked for two different United States Attorneys’ Offices. Before law school, Matt interned for the Supreme Court of the United States and worked for the New York State Office of the Attorney General. He arrived in the D.C. area by way of Upstate New York, where he attended college.
