PENNSYLVANIA WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLIENT ADVISORY: Important PA Development – Amendment to PA Workers’ Compensation Act

October 30, 2024

Yesterday, October 29, 2024, Governor Shapiro signed into law an amendment to the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act which abolishes the “abnormal working conditions” standard for post-traumatic stress injuries for first responders. Depending on the triggering event, first responders who have been diagnosed with such mental injuries, will be entitled to up to 104 weeks of workers’ compensation benefits. The new law takes effect a year from the date of its enactment.

The Workers’ Compensation attorneys at Thomas, Thomas & Hafer, LLP will be providing a more in-depth analysis of the law in the very near future. Please monitor our website for updates on this important development.
